There's nothing we love more than a good Challenge and so when we saw the insane challenges which Search4Hurt's Matt took on, we had to find out more!

Matt's mission was a simple but incredible one - to take all of Australia's most insane challenges and see which really is the toughest: Tough Mudder, Buller MTB Event, Tough Bloke, Sydney Triathlon, Men's Health Urbanathlon, Glow Worm Marathon, Marysville to Melbourne Adventure Race, Kathmandu Adventre Race and the Australian Outback Marathon.

We caught up with Matt to see what he thought of his mega challenge:

Of all the Search4Hurt challenges, which one was actually the toughest?

The DNF at Marysville to Melbourne was the toughest mentally and the Outback marathon physically, 42kms in red dust with a bung knee was really tough!!!

What was the funniest moment of your challenges?

Snapping our producers bike in half that I borrowed for Bike Buller.

Was there anything you wished you'd known before setting out on your trip?

How cramped a campervan with myself, Elyse and two cameraman would be.

Which challenge was your favourite?

Crossing the line first at the first Aussie Tough Mudder will be hard to beat.

How did you cope with injury?

The only real issue I had was my knee, which blew up during the Marysville to Melbourne so large I couldn’t bend my leg and had to DNF. We got some treatment which included steroid injections and a month of rest. The niggly stuff Elyse would sort out before it got too serious.

Did having your wife taking the challenges too help you make it to the finish line?

She only did a couple, but she is a remedial therapist, so she help keep me going between events through nutrition, massage and acupuncture.

Do you prefer Ultra events which depend on pure endurance or an event which pushes you to your physical limits like training with Olympic weightlifter Damon Kelly?

I like both, the events for the test on how much I can push my own limits and then training with the guys like Damon Kelly, which still hurts, but is more of a learning experience. As a personal trainer, being coached by the best is invaluable experience.

Think you can handle the Search4Hurt Australia Series? Well take on Matt's Challenge!
