Tribesports User of the Week: Adriano R

adriano profileWhich Tribesports Challenge has been your toughest and which are you most proud of?

12,500 Push Ups in a month has been the toughest and most gratifying challenge.  I started the month with a set plan of  420 push ups a day but quickly realized it would be better to over shoot the number to allow for rest days.

5 minute Plank was a killer. For a long time I could only get a few seconds past the 2 minute mark till my body wanted to collapse.

30 days with out chocolate was another tough challenge because I love my dark chocolate and tend to put it in all my home made trail mixes.

You've set yourself some great progressive goals for 2014; how's the 100 push-ups in one set Challenge going?

100 Push Ups in one set is still a little way off.  My personal Best now is 57 in one set.  I am proud of my progress as when I joined Tribesports I could only do 15 at a time.

Which Challenges have helped with your push-up progress most?

I have found that the Plank Challenges and the Push Up progression Challenges have really helped build up my max.  Without a strong core push ups become very tiring on the arms.    Incline Push-ups

Any events on the horizon?

I have not yet signed up for any Tough Mudder or Warrior Dash events.  I need to work on my running.  I have to admit I have been lazy in that department lately because of my schedule.  I have picked June as the month to start running and we will see if I catch the bug.  On the other side I have another 100 km back packing trip planned for the first week of June.  Birthday vacation for me.

Camping and HikingHiking is clearly a passion of yours, where has been your favorite place to hike?

Some of my favourite hiking routes are with in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario Canada.  There are so many different trails from 1 hour leisurely hikes to multi-day back packing routes.  The York Region Forests also have quite a few trails and are nearly in my back yard with minimal travel to the trails.  My most memorable Hike was in the Dolomite mountains when I visited Cortina, Italy.

Where in the world would you most like to hike?

The two Hiking trails that are on my bucket list are the Bruce trail 885 km and the Appalachian Trail 3500 km.  Mind you I am sure I could find a trail or two in Europe or some Tropical country.

Which Tribesports users make your day?

@vixie has been one of the Tribe members that I started following right at the beginning and she has been an awesome Cheerleader.  Competing with her through the month of March for number of Push ups completed was a lot of fun.

@bobk3, @smouse and @kevingibson have also been some great Tribesports members that have made me force myself to bang out one more set or hike 1 more km or throw a few more punches with their friendly competition and their knowledge in different sports.

@dash1977, @matteor and @marysed have all been inspirations as well to push myself further and to add and change up my workouts so that I can better myself.

I feel like I am missing people in the Tribesports community that bring a smile to my face or comment on my activity that make me feel good.  I am really happy to be part of a community that shows a ton of respect for fellow users and is genuinely out to help each other.

What's your favorite quote?

It is tough to pick just one.  The two quotations that always bring me motivation are:

"Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence." - Vince Lombardi.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle.
