With the Chicago marathon coming up this week, how are you feeling about it? Are you ready?

I am very excited for it; feeling very good and confident that I can complete the distance! It is my first marathon, so I am going into it with only the expectations that others have set for me. I believe I am as ready as I can be! I think what is helping me remain the most calm is knowing I will have my family there cheering me on! I couldn’t ask for more supportive people in my life – offering to travel and stand around for 4+ hours while I run a race I won’t “win” screams “I love you and am proud of you” to me!

How has your training gone so far?

I met and exceeded most of my training goals. The first sign that I am ready thanks to my training was when I completed my first 20 mile training run with a strong finish (under my desired marathon pace). The second sign that I am ready is the time that I got in my latest half marathon. I ran it in undesirable conditions (hot, humid and on little sleep) in 1:49:02, taking nearly 7 minutes off of my spring half marathon time! I believe that with such a good training period and the confidence (yet respect) that I have going into the race, I will do well. We will find out on Sunday!

What’s been your favourite Challenge and which has been the toughest?

My favorite challenge was the Team Relay. It was SO much fun, I developed a lot of close friendships because of that challenge and it pushed me to complete new distances that I never thought I would or could. I can’t tell you how excited I am about the sequel to the 5 person relay. The camaraderie, encouragement from everyone, banter, and excitement all the TS members exhibit is like nothing else. I really encourage everyone to take part in these team challenges. It will really introduce you to a new side of TS!

I think the toughest challenge that I have been working on for months now is the Balancing on one leg with eyes closed. I’ve gone as long as 52 seconds now. I am just not graceful!! I am bound and determined to finish this one before the year is out.

You've connected with loads of different users from all over the world, where would you most like to visit to take a Challenge and what would it be?

It has been amazing to develop friendships with those all over the world. I think I would most like to visit the UK and run the London Marathon (hopefully with a sub 4:00)! Phil C has encouraged me quite a bit in my marathon training, always offering great advice after his experience in the London marathon and even running “together” in one of the longer training runs. It would be very cool to not only visit a country I’ve been yearning to visit for years now, but to also run a big race with a great person!

Great picture busting out the worm - were the other party goers loving it?

Ha! It was so much fun, easily the best wedding I’ve been to. We had a little “catwalk” line going. My partner and I decided we needed to raise the bar and both did the worm! The other party goers loved it! We had a very creative bunch, all busted out stellar moves: the sprinkler, shopping cart, we even had a little guy do some breakdancing! Of course the worm set the tone for all of that!

Which Tribesports users make your day?

Oh how can I choose?! Everyone here on TS has had a huge impact on me and how I view challenging myself and others. Everyone has been so encouraging, positive and upbeat (and incredibly knowledgeable). Gemma A, Ben R, Eddie W, Phil C, John G, Claire L, Anna D, Baldy John, Barbara L, Amy I ... I know I am missing TONS of people... the list goes on and on!

What's your favourite quote?

I don’t have just one favorite, so I will leave you all with three:

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. “ - Henry David Thoreau

“Will power is only as strong as you allow it to be.” - A good friend of mine

“Of course it’s hard. It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. Hard is what makes it great.” - A League of Their Own
