Loretta ProfileWhich Tribesports Challenge has been your toughest and which are you most proud of?

My toughest TS challenge over the last year has to be the 30 Day Plank Challenge and the 5 minute plank at the end.  I’ve done it twice now and it doesn’t get easier the second time round.  The achievement I am most proud of is a PB of 300 Burpees for the recent Synchronized TS Community Event.  My previous best was around the 200 mark and I set out to reach 250 on the day but then kept going until I reached 300 and it felt amazing!  Can’t wait for an opportunity to try and beat it. 

You're a great motivator on team Challenges, which ones are you working towards at the moment?

I love team challenges as I think they bring the TS community closer together.  My favourite one at the moment is Boys vs. Girls: walking to the centre of the earth and back.  Watching the daily feeds I noticed that Allan J was literally the only one in Team “boys” logging to that challenge,  I managed to  drum up more support and now we have a real competition going and have been adding thousands of kilometres since.  My next challenge is going to be the 31 Day Pull-Up Challenge.  I want to be able to do a chin-up & pull-up and I’ve sporadically trained for it but this time I’m going to set time aside and see how I get on.

Loretta AWhich race would you most like to take part in?

Last year I did my first 50km cycle race in Trim, Ireland on a Mountain Bike and really enjoyed it. There is one steep hill and I was trying to keep up with the women next to me only to realise afterwards on TS that is was Brenda D.   This year I would like to invest in a racing bike and do the 100km An Post Meath Heritage Tour.  Luckily it is after our cycling holiday round Lake Constance (550km) which hopefully means cycling fitness will not be a problem.

What's the best mass-participation event you've entered?

This has to be a 10km run in my home town of Hanover/Germany for the last two years which is part of the TUI Marathon.   The whole city is closed for that day and apart from the marathon & half marathon, there are other races including the 10km, inline skaters half marathon, handbike and Nordic walking.  The atmosphere is brilliant just like a carnival with and it lasts most of the day.  This year I entered a 10km run in Munich with my better half and we are really looking forward to that.  Plus the day before we’ll participate in a fun run, dressed in traditional Bavarian clothes. (I do love a bit of fancy dress...)

Which piece of Tribesports Performance Wear is currently on your wish list?

I have my eyes on to the Open-Back Tank, it’s colourful and stylish and I am only waiting for an opportunity to spoil myself. 

Love your climbing profile pic, do you go often?

That was a one off but it is something I would like to do with my husband once he gets over a problem with his wrist.   I really loved the session and once I got over the fear of falling and heights, I was surprised that my legs were shaking at the end.  Like every beginner I thought your arms have to do all the work but it is actually your legs. 


How's the handstand progression coming on? 

Wall assisted handstandI took a few Acrofit classes to improve my headstands and handstands and the minute the instructor showed us how to do a headstand I had a Eureka moment and could do them no problem and I’ve been practising ever since.  I thought the headstand would improve my free handstand but unfortunately not.  I still practise the wall assisted version and can happily hold it for 2 minutes plus and also progressed to Hand Stand Push Ups which means that strength is not my problem.  I am sure that with practice, patience and perseverance, I will do it eventually. 

Which Tribesports users make your day? 

This is not an easy question to answer because there are so many inspiring people who really make Tribesports a wonderful community.  However, I would like to mention Tamara A who is my virtual skipping partner and recent frenemy during the pick-a-partner-first-to-15-000-crunches which was a lot of fun.   

Amanda C, Matteo R and Eunice Y for their constant encouragements, comments and friendly banter.  

And I also would like to mention my Five-A-Side-Tournament team Beauties&Beasts (Vaunette C, Scott K, Daren B) for coming together and competing like a real team.  Although we didn’t win, we showed real sporting spirit and finished the challenge.
