Tribesports User of the Week: Robyn S

Posted by Robyn S under Fitness & Training on 30 April 2014 at 11:00 PM

Robyn SWhich Tribesports Challenge has been your toughest and which are you most proud of?

The toughest for me so far has been Roll the dice burpees.  I ended up with 296 burpees in 20 minutes.  I thought I was going to die, but I wasn't going to stop.  I knew this would be a tough one but completing it was thrilling!  I will also have to add, as silly as it sounds, 10 push-ups a day for 7 days.  When I started TS, I could not do one single push up.  As I started with the modified and worked up, this was very difficult.  Thanks to TS, I can do real push ups now!!!

The challenge I was most proud of was 100 Burpees in 5 minutes.  After weeks of preparation, I completed this in 4 minutes!

You were described by Rebecca R as a body weight workout queen - what's your favorite body weight exercise?

I loved hearing this from Rebecca.  I am forced to do mostly body weight workouts because I live very far from my daughter's school and even further from work, so the gym is not at all an option for me.  Between a new promotion at work a year ago, and a toddler who is hard to keep up with, 4:00 am workouts at home have been my norm.  With that being said, burpees and squats are my body weight workouts of choice. I know how many people hate burpees, and so did I when I started.  But I was determined to do them until I loved them!  Now it's part of my daily routine.  And squats...with all of the variations they are, and adding weights, how could you not love them?

Kettle Bell Squats

I have shaped and toned my legs and tush pushing anywhere from 400-1000 a day.  Since I've joined this amazing group of people on here, I'm proud to say that I've lost 50 pounds (eeek, what a scary number to even type) and am going strong!  I can't wait to tone and tighten since I've come so far and see my transformation as it progresses!

20,000 burpees in a year Challenge is crazy! How's your progress going?

Gall Bladder operationWe are nearing the end of April, and I'm at 11,140.  I just had gallbladder removal surgery on April 24th, but I am determined to finish this challenge before the end of the year.   I started this thinking I would do 50-60 a day minimum, then I started increasing my sets in between other exercises, and pushed to 60-200 per day.  Knowing that my surgery would happen this year, I aimed to do as many as I could before (starting Jan 1) and use the remaining total I had to complete before the end of the year.  What more motivation than to recover from four abdominal incisions to finish out a challenge like this!

What's your biggest goal this year?

My biggest goal this year is a total recovery from surgery and to tone back up.  With a 4-8 week recovery time, I will have to ease back into things, but the amazing support I get from everyone on here is what keeps me moving.   I really wanted to get into running, but since I don't live in a very safe neighborhood, I've vowed to either get a treadmill or do trail runs a few times a month.  I have to say that the runners on TS absolutely motivate me to the fullest and I've heard over and over that once you start running, you're addicted!  There is nothing more thrilling me me than seeing how much they love to run, and how much it makes me want to start with something new.

Where in the world would you most like to complete a Challenge?

Australia, hands down.  It has always been the place I've wanted to visit the most.  The natural beauty of Australia is breath-taking and it is on my bucket list to visit.  Thanks to TS, I've gotten to know some amazing people from the area and maybe I can convince them to take a challenge with me on my visit!  ;)

Which piece of Tribesports Performance Wear would you like to add to your workout wardrobe?

The Performance Capris and the Performance open-back tank are the two I've had my eyes on since the performance wear came out.

Which Tribesports user makes your day?

I finally understand why this is the most difficult question anyone has to answer.  Everyone on here is so incredible and part of such a unique group of people that come together to support each other.

I guess I'll have to start with @matteor.  He has pushed me out of my comfort zone to go harder and stronger than I ever thought possible.  He was my partner in so many of the burpee challenges that I would never have been able to do without him.  Matteo truly is the Burpee King!

@babygirl93086, what a truly amazing friend.  She has been a constant supporter of mine and always kept in touch.  I am proud that I can call her a friend and never would have met her had it not been for TS.

@nuchi was one of the biggest supporters in the Days of the Week challenges.  What an honor it was to have the same day as her and log some amazingly high numbers with such an amazing person.

@pault40264 has been with me since the beginning.  I watched him work for and achieve all that he had set out to do, and still have the time to support me through my own challenges.

@kels72 has inspired me to the fullest.  Watching her transform herself and work so hard has been my biggest push.  She is definitely one I'll be doing a challenge with when I get my chance to go to Australia!!!

What's your favorite quote?

Plain and simple...sweat is fat crying.

And as a side note, I just want to express what an honor and privilege it is to be a part of this amazing community of people.  We are united in our goals to be better for ourselves and push each other to new limits.  I love all of my TS family!
