Terri L profile pictureWhich has been your toughest Tribesports Challenge and which are you most proud of?

By far, the toughest Challenge I have completed has been the run for a streak of 14 days. Up until that Challenge I was your average runner, running 2-4 times a week. I had never done back-to-back days, at least not if I could have helped it! I loved the challenge so much that I have moved on to the run EVERY day for a month.

Another difficult Challenge for me was the 1000 push-ups in 5 days. After the first day of 200 push-ups, I thought my arms were going to fall off! On about day 3, I started to get used to it. Upon completion, I was ready to move on to 1000 push-ups in 3 days

Signing up for a half Ironman is an amazing commitment - how's the training going?

Awesome! The Boulder, 70.3, is in June, 2014. That gives me plenty of time to prefect my horribly slow swimming stroke. I have joined a master’s swim program and am already seeing improvements. I have two more Half Marathons planned for this year and one in the spring. I will mountain bike through the winter months then get back on my road bike in early March to build up my endurance and distance.

When did you first start triathlon as a sport?

I started doing triathlons about 12 years ago.  I’ve done multiple sprints and a few Olympic distances. So, of course, the next progression would be a Half Ironman, 70.3.

Which would you say is your strongest discipline?

Cycling is my strongest disciple. I absolutely love cycling. I have done 12 state tours, and numerous centuries and metric centuries. My favorite experience on the bike was the “Bike Tour of Colorado”, one week of riding in the beautiful Colorado Rockies with more than 10,000 feet of climbing over 500 plus miles in 6 days.

We hear congratulations are in order - how are the wedding plans going and what's the story behind your half-marathon ceremony?

First, I want to let everyone know that I am so blessed to have such an amazing man in my life. We are best friends and share the joy of life together. We met on a mountain biking trip and coincidently our first date was mountain biking as well. We share the same passion for the outdoors and fitness.

So when we started to discuss wedding plans, we knew we wanted it to be unique and geared towards our lifestyle. That’s when I heard about the wedding ceremony at the Las Vegas Rock n Roll Half Marathon, November 17, 2013. It was a perfect fit for both of us.  We will exchange vows at the start line in front of 1,000’s of runners and fans.

Will you be running it in a wedding dress?

Well kinda, my co-workers bought me a darling white, frilly running skirt and matching top. I plan on putting a veil on my running cap then I will ready to take my vows.  Jeff will be stylin’ a tuxedo dry fit running shirt, black running shorts and cap…no veil for him!

Hike ColoradoOther than Boulder 70.3, what other big goals are on the sporting agenda next year?

Jeff and I plan on doing the St. Anthony’s Olympic Triathlon in April, 2014, and Boulder, 70.3 in June, 2014. After Boulder, 70.3, we plan on taking six weeks off of work and exploring the mountain bike trails in the Utah and Colorado area.
