30 push ups in one set is a decent level of fitness to achieve if you are doing them all properly.

Build up to thirty by breaking your push up sets down into 3 sets of ten, with shorter and shorter breaks, followed by 2 sets of 15, before eventually going for all thirty push ups in one go.

“holy cow! Did it all in one set for the first time. All that strength yoga seems to have taken me from only being able to do 15 at once, but in a week I can finally do 30 at once again. Moving on to the next push-up challenge.”

Martin N 30 push-ups in one go Challenge

Contributorgold Martin N Thought might've just got to it tonight, just failed at 25!

Cheers, I would normally stop about 15, then do another set or exercise but felt ok, so pushed on, just when I thought might get there, failed! There's always next time, might make more attempts at 30 in one set!

Alan S 30 push-ups in one go Challenge

Contributorgold Alan S After many, many months of push-up struggles, I finally managed 30 this evening... and did an extra 1 to take me to 31. Happy.

Well done. There has to be a better way to train to improve them. I've been doing 100+ most evenings for the last few weeks. I'm still stuck at 32.

I remember seeing (and briefly attempting) a program that would take you to 100 consecutive push-ups. It was here: http://www.hundredpushups.com/ Not sure if you'd want to do it, but I guess doing not quite 32 several times in one session would help build push-up stamina.

That's what I started doing/following when I took on the 100 push up challenge. I never got passed week 2. I can only manage not quite 32 once at a session, sometime not even once.

Contributorgold Christopher S Built up to try this yesterday, warmed-up and but only managed 26. Today, not particularly going for it, managed 31. This challenge done. 50 next - though not any time soon if my progress so far is anything to go by.

Btw if you do the 3k race on Friday you will get a free t shirt from bupa! They are supporting the race to mark one year since the games.
