Hold a 10kg frontal raise for 3 mins

How strong are your deltoids? This frontal raise exercise targets your shoulders, and especially your deltoids.

Hold a 10kg dumbbell in both hands, and from the floor, standing up straight, raise it to a 90 degrees angle from your body, straight out in front of you. Keep the angle, and then hold it for as long as you can - this challenge is to hold it for 3 mins!

Tips for safely performing it - stand with a neutral posture, raise slowly, and use a mirror to try and maintain the correct posture.

Alex D Hold a 10kg frontal raise for 3 mins Challenge

Contributorgold Alex D 32 seconds!! This is going to take some work!

20170527135612-smouse

That's amazing to get to 32 seconds! I think 3 minutes will take something quite special with a 10kg weight. I did some similar ones with less time and weight, I'll try and find them in case you didn't do them yet.

Alex D encouraged this.

I did mine with my 10kg kettlebell, as I don't have the right weight of anything else. It was really hard work :) thanks for the recommendation, taken, I shall do that one first.

Russell S Hold a 10kg frontal raise for 3 mins Challenge

Contributorsilver Russell S 11kg for 1:12. I think 10kg for 3mins is impossible. At least for me:o)

I thought 74 press ups in one go was for me too a few months back. How is that going btw?

I haven't been doing the press ups, i need to get back into it.

Andrew M Hold a 10kg frontal raise for 3 mins Challenge

Andrew M This is hard - got up to about 1:15 before gently collapsing. Might buy a set of dumbells - you don't link to Argos do you, I'd actually prefer to pick them up from there rather than have them delivered (to work)? Luddite approach to internet shopping ftw.

20110327163536-amurray

Search engine dealt with my mis-spelling, I just overlooked the fact that the daughter categories of dumbbell only contain a sub-set, so when I browsed by category I missed the many that would be in 'other'. Found the metal one that comes with a case for storage - how do I link items?

20140704144847-andrew

To link items, just copy and past the URL into your update and it will replace it with then named link. We will make this more obvious to users later.

Russell S Hold a 10kg frontal raise for 3 mins Challenge

Contributorsilver Russell S 1.03. I did it with a 10 kg medicine ball because i don't have any dumbbells at home and didn't want to ask the meat head at the gym to time me. p.s. my elbows hurt more than my shoulders, i guess it was from the way i was holding the ball.

Steve R and Andrew M encouraged this.

20140704144847-andrew

That's a good time, particularly as a medicine ball is more difficult to hold than a dumbbell.

20110327163505-russell

As long as i beat steve that is all that matters :-)
