Run your first half marathon

Running a half marathon is a great distance target for intermediate runners to aim for, either as a goal in itself or as a stepping stone before a longer term target of a full marathon.

Experienced runners can also use running a half marathon as training for a marathon. The distance for a half is 21k (13.1 miles), so start increasing your running distance, improve your endurance and build your way up. Good luck!

“Ran the Narragansett, RI half marathon on 11/2/2014....very bad conditions...rain, sleet, snow, 35 MPH winds. Got to mile10 and told myself, "Just a 5k left to do - no problem." Really tough last 3 miles into the wind - problem. Hurt like hell, but felt great to complete my very first half!”

Contributorgold Sue A I do this tomorrow - pretty excited now! Finishing work then heading to Blenheim today - jeeze I hope I can manage this and not be too shattered that I can't enjoy a celebratory beverage.
