Active Isolated Stretching; a sequence of stretching exercises that encourages flexibility by combining active stretching and reciprocal inhibition (RI) methods. The move-ments are performed repetitively until adequate progress has been made. Unlike muscle energy techniques, these exercises do not make use of the numerous benefits of postisometric relaxation (PIR).
