200 Russian twists, 3 sets of Assisted Pull ups and Dip machine. Too hurt for shadow boxing!!!! But here comes the next phase...heavy bag work.

Contributorbronze Angel A Skip rope 2 rounds, shadow box 2 rounds, run 30 minute 5k, 200 sit ups, Russian twists with medicine ball, leg lifts 2 sets on chin up bar (touch shoes to chin up bar).

Apparently, when you do a leg raise where your shins or shoes touch the chin up bar, that is called a hanging v raise.

Contributorbronze Christine P Did our first 5k obstacle race of the 2013 season! The Bold R Dash in Westerly, RI, on the beach. Running on sand STINKS! lol. But we finished another one together and that is why I love these races.

Contributorbronze Christine P I did what passes for me as running for 40 minutes straight! I average about a 12 minute/mile which is considerable improvement from my start when I walked everything! haha. I completed 5 miles in 60 minutes today! YEAH FOR ME!!

Contributorbronze Christine P A little about me! Haha. The first mudrun I completed was the Warrior Dash at Amesbury, MA in 2011. There was a group of women at work who were all going to do it together--yeah, well, it ended up just me and my hubby, and we had a blast! Last year, in 2012, we did 2 Warrior Dashes, NH and CT, and the Spartan Sprint in Amesbury, MA. We were signed up for the Run For Your life in MA as well, but ended up in a car accident while we were driving up there. The race was gracious enough to refund our money! We then attempted the RFYL again in MD later last year but was canceled because of Sandy. We did manage to get in a Zombie Run in October of 2012 all the way up in VT. Of them all so far, the Spartan was the most demanding. I have no doubt I would not have competed the course had my husband not been there to help me over a few walls. But, my husband has been by my side for every run, my one constant support and cheer leader! This year, I am hoping to complete the Jungle Cup, Warrior Dash, RFYL (hehe, if THIS one gets side railed due to an act of God, we are calling it quits!), Zombie Run in VT again, and a few others.

When I did my first mudrun, there was no preparation. I was overweight and out of shape, I had no idea what we were in for and the course at Amesbury, MA is BRUTAL! There is this KILLER hill! Ug! And for the Spartan, I think we went up and down that same stinking hill 5 or 6 times! Since my first run, I have been doing LOTS of cardio, treadmill and incline work. I go through all this so people can maybe NOT be discouraged at their own lack of physical ability and keep moving forward. When I started, my first race was over an hour for 3.2 miles and all the obstacles because the one thing I can say for myself is we never skip an obstacle. When I started at the gym, I could not even run a whole mile. I could not do a single dip or pull up unassisted. I am by no means a hulking brute now, but I keep at it and I get better every time. And THAT'S what this group is about! Doing your best and keep moving forward, keep trying, keeping exercising. I may never be THE BEST but I will be better then I was yesterday and last week, and next year, I will be better then I am today.

I always thought I ate well and didn't over eat my daily caloric needs. HOW WRONG I WAS! lol. I finally got an app for my phone that keeps track of my calories in/out and at a difference it makes! I am keeping up my gym training and have added training with my husband almost every evening. In one week, I have seen a GREAT improvement! Keeping up my sit ups, push ups, squats, planks, no soda, and lots of water! My desserts are yummy yogurts and fruits which I love anyway.
