David M Mud in Scotland Tribe

Contributorbronze David M Here's another event in Edinburgh. It doesn't look nearly muddy enough for me personally, but it might be worth getting involved in you're local, or if you're looking for something to break you into obstacle racing relatively gently. It's pretty cheap, and it's in support of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

Contributorbronze David M Registration for next year's Rat Race Dirty Weekend is now open, and it's much cheaper if you register early. Might be worth seeing how many from Scotland are planning to go down, with a view to car pooling and saving some travel costs.

Not a Scottish event, of course, but at 20 miles and 200 obstacles, it's one that might be worth travelling to!

Robin M Mud in Scotland Tribe

Contributorbronze Robin M I would highly recommend the Rat Race events that they host.
The Deer Stalker has just been and it is said to be 10K night run but the GPS said 9 miles. Waist deep water in march and ice on the hills. Great for people that love mud in Scotland and they host other great events all the time.
They have the Race across Scotland, a Water run at Glasgow and thats just a few.

Hi Robin. Thanks for your input. It's a small tribe at the moment, but I think it's good to have somewhere that folk can find local(ish) info. I did the Mighty Deerstaker this year too, and had a great time. Running down a steep muddy hill by the light of a head torch really appeals to the same part of me that wants to sign up for any event with a name that suggests pain, suffering and exhaustion!

Contributorbronze David M Here's another Challenge - this time for this year's Spartan Sprint in South Queensferry near Edinburgh. It's quite a short one, so it's probably a good event to take part in if you love the mud and obstacles, but aren't so keen on running long distances. There are other levels of Spartan Race if this is too short for you, but the Sprint is the only one happening in Scotland this year.

Contributorbronze David M I've created a Challenge for the Beast Race, which I'm planning on entering this year. I haven't done it before, but it sounds like a lot of fun. 10k with 20 obstacles... and hot showers!
