Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

(OCD) is an anxiety disorder that affects two to three percent of the population. It usually manifests in early adolescence. People with OCD can experience recurrent and persistent thoughts, images or impulses that are intrusive and unwanted (obsessions). They also perform repetitive and ritualistic actions that are excessive, time-consuming and distressing (compulsions).
People with OCD are usually aware of their behavior, but unable to control their obsessions or resist their compulsions.
Here is a safe place where we can share experiences, give and receive advice, and support each other.

Whenever I'm eating dinner I always eat my food from least favourite to most favourite, the veggies are first to go, then the meat, but if I am having potatoes, they are last because I LOVE potatoes! Not that I eat them anymore, but when I would e...

Yes I do, I am addicted to raw almonds, however the way I eat them is a little bizarre. I scrape the skin off with my teeth, chipping away around the almond like peeling an apple. The flesh of the almond is then exposed, and I bit...

That sounds very controlled and measured Garry. I feel the same way about my job, being orderly and with focused attention to detail makes me feel more in control, especially if I can''t control all other aspects of my life. I love routine and...

Emails. Almost any "body of text", for that matter. I check and re-check; typeface has to be consistent throughout the document, no double spaces or any "unforgivable oversight" like that. Opening and closing formulae. Latin words italicized, text...

Lavinia I Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Tribe

I'm not sure I keep them completely under control, they pop up when least expected (I'm serious). Every now and then I'd make a mess just so I would have to re-arrange things (usually I feel that I've made substantial mental "improvements" to the...

Christina W Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Tribe

Hi all. I'm pretty sure I've got OCD. It runs in my family on my father's side. It's actually really funny to see my siblings, cousins, uncles and grandmother and all their quirky behaviours. I'd have to say though that my father takes the cake on...
