Contributorgold Kirstin M Feeling a little daft and a lot headhanging, showering after pole session, dreaming a little, closed shower door and ninja spider swinging gently an inch in front of my face....SCREAMED....hero partner saved the day, after I almost took the shower head off the wall in the total panic to get away from it (MASSIVE spider was not even the size of my finger nail) oops

Communicatorgold Helen T replied to the topic Daft Idea

I just revisted this post from last year, I didn't go for a swim, but I did cycle to the nearby mangroves to take a photo of a couple of dolls in a bath tub by the mangroves. Does this count as daft? Bearing in mind that half an hour earlier I'd h...

Contributorgold Nelson L OK - so I was looking ahead on my marathon training schedule. My first 20 miler is still a number of weeks away. Now - my last 20 miler was quite undulating to say the least. A trigpoint included. And - on the same day as said 20 miler, there's the Borders marathon. 23.5 laps of Kelso racecourse. I figure that 26.2 miles on the flat is about the same as 20 miles up and doon. So my marathon training now involves, err.., running another (albeit preparatory) marathon. With it being all on the flat, I might run a training marathon quicker than the marathon (Paris) it's meant to be the groundwork for. Mwee-hee-haw-haw-haw! Am I making sense?

Contributorgold Nelson L Apparently, it is still legal to kill a Scotsman in York, though it has to be with a bow and arrow and you can't kill him on a Sunday.
If ever I needed an excuse to run the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in a kilt...
As long as I keep my head down until the race tomorrow.

Contributorgold Murray S You can tell I'm not use to running indoors. Tonight because of very bad weather and very poor road conditions, I decided to run on the treadmill at the local gym. Well 8 min in on my second 10 min tempo, I all of a sudden dropped an F bomb very loudly. Boy did I ever get some looks ;)

Thanks Bridget!!! That's an awesome 7 k, so proud of you!!! Christmas here was a bit of a whirl wind but over all its been great. We have had a pile of snow and ice which has made for some beautiful scenery.

Thank you :D Just got in from work an Hubby said that there is Nike+ watches 30% off and maybe I could get one seeing as he got a new wetsuit today!! I am a big numbers/info/data girl so it would be so exciting for me! Silly question but they just work on their own right? You don't need any extra gadgets? I have 2 runs planned for next week when I am away on holiday, shoes will be packed!

Murray S encouraged this.

I got the Garmin one for Christmas and luv it so far. It works all on its own. One of the Nike + works in combination with a bracelet, but I think that one works with an I-pod. The one I got works by GPS. Have a great holiday Bridget!!!

Contributorgold Murray S Bought a new pair of skinny jeans on the weekend with a funky sweater to go with them. Well I got home I modeled them for my girls. My middle girl which is 12 going on 30, looks at me and says "thanks for ruining my life Dad, I'm never going to be able to look at a boy wearing jeans the same way again". If this is all it took to keep her away from the boys I should have done this a long time a go :)

Contributorgold Murray S Today after work I did my tempo training on the high school track to my sons displeasure. See the Nordic ski team was practicing while I was running the track in 9 inches of snow. Evan had to admit that the crazy man running in the snow was his father. Very hard work out and a paying for it a bit tonight. I think maybe its time to move my tempo training indoors :( Posted a pic of teh ice build up on my anckles and feet after the run.

Contributorgold Nelson L My race pack for a 10K event arrived today - bib number 007.
Now, that's the sort of thing that should spur one on to run a PB - but I'm thinking, "Should I run in a tux?"

Contributorgold Murray S Been giving the guys that work me a hard time lately (all in fun) about eating cleaner and excising more. Well they cornered me this morning and told me that if I ever leave this earth before them, that they are all going to come through the visitation and fill my casket with empty beer cans and chocolate bar wrappers. LOL I guess I better lay of the preaching for a bit :)

Great - a smashing run. Was happy with my time of 2 hrs 12 mins 12 secs. When I signed up last year I was aiming under 2' 30'', so was chuffed. The Berliners who turned out to support the runners were great. The kilt brought some extra encouragement.

Pronsias (Frank) M encouraged this.

Great stuff Nelson....2hr 12 min is a very respectable time........I think my aim next week is to finish around the 2hr 30 mark as I haven't done enough long runs, but it's a challenge and I will run it

Contributorgold Nelson L Bought some brand new kit today, ahead of my first half marathon (Berlin, this coming Sunday).

Perhaps that should read, "Bought a brand new kilt today, ahead of..." A braw Royal Stewart affair. That's a total of three kilts now. Two have been run-in, and my new one'll be put (literally) through the paces come Sunday.
