Do you sometimes lack the motivation to train? Even with a goal, or event in mind, you still find yourself training without gusto or skipping sessions. One way to snap you out of the lethargy is to have a training buddy. Most people think of a training buddy as someone that you actually train with, but this isn’t always the case. A true training buddy is anyone who is committed to your journey to the same degree (sometimes even greater) than you are. Contributorgold Murray S Week 12 is coming to an end BRIDGET C @runningmum. V02 run on Tue, recovery on Wed, and a recovery on Fri with some strides thrown in. The 4 x 400 M run on Tue actually seemed easy. Shows the improvement I guess as it wasn't that long ago I was swearing during 4 x 400 m runs :))) Training is all done now and head of to Sarnia soon. About two hours drive and I'm staying the night down there. Calling for minus 21 there tomorrow morning so its going to be cold!!! With so much going this weekend at home with the kids, mainly hockey and dance. I'm going down all by myself. No one to cheer me across the finish line :((( Although I am certainly going to enjoy the quite time tonight :). Hope you had a great week and are having an awesome weekend. Hope your running is going well!!!

Super duper best of luck to you in your run today, you will be amazing!!!! Hope the 'alone time' sleep refreshed you for your brisk morning and you nail the run :D Will fill you in on my weekend later as it wasn't pretty and therefore doesn't belong on here with your run LOL Thinking of you and your knee for the 21km, roll on the 42km!!

Murray S Virtual Training Buddies Tribe

Contributorgold Murray S Week nine in the books and was a bit of struggle BRIDGET C @runningmum Knee bothering most of the week so didn't do either training run. Did do a recovery run on Thur and the way the knee felt on Fri I thought I was all done. It did settle down though and bought a new running knee brace to try. Used it on my long run on Sunday and my knee feels the best its felt today in a long time. So the knee is either getting use to the longer distance or the brace helped. Hope to be all back on track this week and have a hard push to the finish line ;) Have a great week and hoping your feeling better.

Two months training completed Murray yay! Nice work on the 16k, what are you doing for your knee? Mine also protesting a little after 8km mark. Have been icing, using Emugel and strapping, has made a little difference. Weekend was doing big clean up on house and section, had done my long run in the week. This week I am rapt have already done 2k, 10k & 8k with 15K planned for Sat and a short run Fri. Fingers crossed both our knees start to behave once they get used to the new mileage!!

Your doing awesome Bridget!!! Not sure what I'm doing. Long runs are defiantly bothering it. Only two weeks to go then I start to taper off for the last two weeks. Knee is better today but still concerns me a bit. I think I'm going to skip my training run tonight. If it feels better in the morning i'm going to do a recovery run to test it out. If it keeps bothering me I think I my got my long runs back.Dam it sucks getting old :) I got my fingers crossed, toes crossed, and what ever else I can cross hoping both or knees straighten out sooner then later!! Hope your having a great Wednesday morning!!

Nice work Murray, you are really nailing your plan, you're going to be so well prepared! My plan is an ever-evolving one but I can totally roll with that. Today, instead a 3km recovery, my PT friend nailed me with a routine on the spin bike for 25mins/10.5km but with not a drop of pain in my leg so thinking I may replace 1 run/wk with this. Was saturated, swearing, unable to speak sentences, shaking and burning afterwards so was a better workout than I put myself through, Awesome! I love speedwork, have fun on Tues :)

LOL Bridget. I can just picture you there swearing :) Its all about what works for you. If your leg is feeling good, go with it. The way the knee is feeling a might start pushing myself a little harder. My original goal was to do the half in under 100 minutes, but kind of had given up on that and had excepted that it would be over a 100. But if it keeps going well, it might be achievable.

Wow that is such a great goal!!! It's amazing what we can pull out on race day and your knee is going so well, you could surprise yourself :) I am hoping for around 1:55, wanting to beat my PB of 1:57:33 but trying not to pressure myself/my leg too much.

Contributorgold Murray S Temp run tonight BRIDGET C @runningmum boy you would have thought I had 100 different personalities!! Struggled through the run and lots of head games going on. My mind was trying to find every excuse imaginable to stop. Fought through it though and finished the run. total of 9.6 k including warm up and cool down. Thanks for all your support and encouragements and have a great weekend!!!

Oh those runs are a pain :P We have chosen to go running so why do we fight ourselves so badly!?! You did well to complete almost 10km, you won the fight :D I was super, duper rapt to complete a slow 5km yesterday (30:47) and have been forcing myself to go on the spin bike and it seems to be helping. I have 11wks now til race day so have decided to go back to your plan for the distance runs so the 5km completed wk 1, roll on wk 2!! Good luck this week and thanks for keeping me on track even though my track has gone a bit off road for now LOL

Its funny how the mind work sometimes, it really is. Same thing tonight on my 7 k run. Good Murray Vs bad Murray talking to myself all the way.Your doing great Bridget!!!!!!!! Ramp up the distance slowly and give the speed and tempo training a try. You got a ton of time yet. Hope you had a great weekend and have a great week!!!!!

Feel it's the speed that is aggravating my leg more so will either be reducing effort of speedwork or replacing with hills for awhile. I play 'tricks' on myself esp on the treadmill "ok you don't have to run 5km, just get to 3km then you can stop" then 'trick' myself by not looking at the screen when it's approaching 3km until I'm past it "well, no point stopping on an in-between number, better go to 3.5km" etc, silly but it helps :D Well done on the 7km, tummy bugs all gone here so things are well, hope your weekend was great :)

Go to team daffy to see how pleased my son was with me :) Skipped the optional run days for some extra rest on the knee. Up you are having a great weekend and everything is going great for you!!

Great work Bridget!!! Ease in on the distance you will not regret it. The speed and tempo training will pay dividends. I've knock over three minutes off my 5 k time in 2 and half weeks. Hope your having an awesome week!!!!

3 mins off your 5km is HUGE!!!!! Well done, you are Superman in tights ;) Just a quick pop in to say had sports massage and advice and am super excited about that but body obviously sensed I wanted to go out and try nail it and struck me down with tummy bug, ughhh! So positive side is enforced rest and a running start to next week when I am feeling 100% yeehaa!! Hope you have a great weekend and the schedule is still on track :D

My times had gotten quite slow. Went from low 28 to mid 24. Your having tough go of it Bridget with sicknesses in your house! I hope you have that all behind you. training still going well and knee is holding in there. Been invited to go on a 18 k k trail run on Sun morning with Huron County endurance team, but not sure if my knee is ready for that kind of run. They are pretty hard core and run on pretty intense trails. Have a great weekend Bridget!!

LOL...Love the novels!!! Christmas shopping is a work it in itself!!!!! Take care of that leg and take a few extra days if needed. I think the important runs are those aborbic runs each week and the rest you can be flexible with.Your half is later then mine as well so you have lots of time to play with. Hope your having a great Thur evening!!!!!

Thursday evening ended with Epsom Salt bath, magazine and that restorative glass of wine I love, pretty good way to fend off the "bad-run demons" :D Hope your Thursday is working out perfectly for you :)

Thur was a challenging day, but it as defiantly ended off better then it started ;) Wine and Epsom salt sounds like like a prefect way to end the day!!! Although if you drink enough wine it may create more demons then it solves :) Knee worried me a bit yesterday it was extremely sore!!! But today it feels great, can't figure it out. Finally have got my date for my MRI. I go this Sunday at 9 am. I have to drive close to three hours for it. Well better head off to bed. Hope your having a great fri!!!

Awesome cos that was freaking me out! Did my speedwork intervals today YAY! 3km with 300mtrs speed, 200mtrs slow and repeat. That coupled with weights I haven't done in a month equals Ouch tonight! Just got home from work so foam rolling and yoga before bed I think... and wine, pretty sure wine helps sore muscles :)
